Prostate cancer survivors invited to Farmington Hills event

A December 7, 6 p.m., event designed to aid prostate cancer survivors and their families will be held at the Karmanos Weisberg Cancer Treatment Center in Farmington Hills.

In partnership with Karmanos Cancer Institute, MIU Men’s Health Foundation will host the “Signature Survivorship Event: Your Survival Guide” as part of its Prostate Cancer Survivorship Series. Focusing on the overall health of prostate cancer survivors, scheduled guest speakers include experts on prostate health, sexual health, mental health, physical well-being, exercise and nutrition.

Moderator Dr. Michael Lutz, president of MIU Men’s Health Foundation, will moderate a panel that includes:

  • Dr. Joel Kahn, cardiologist
  • Dr. Michael Cher, urologist
  • Dr. Jason Hafron, urologist
  • Dr. Jordan Maier, radiation oncologist
  • Kathleen Hardy, social worker
  • Julie Booksh, counselor

Refreshments will be served. There is no cost to participate, but attendees are asked to RSVP online or by calling 1-866-55-HELP-MEN.

 

The Prostate Cancer Survivorship Series meets every second Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. in Troy and highlights a different topic allowing men to talk in depth with experts and other survivors. Interested participants should contact Karen Gilcher at gilcherk@miumenshealthfoundation.org.
