UPDATE: DTE reports that wind damage to equipment caused a power outage that affected more than 3,000 Farmington area customers at around 9:50 p.m. Monday.
By Tuesday morning, power had been restored to those customers, but new major outages caused by downed trees and wind damage showed up overnight, near 11 Mile and Middelbelt, and south of I-696 near Woodland Hills Park. In addition, a blown transformer knocked out power to 1,468 customers at around 7:21 a.m., between Farmington and Orchard Lake Roads north of Eight Mile, and between Shiawassee and Grand River, east of Hawthorne Street:
DTE expects to restore power to virtually all areas by 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The initial outage affected an area between Gill and Halsted Road, south of Grand River to just north of Eight Mile Road. The DTE Energy outage map showed an estimated restoration time of 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
