Holiday extravaganza and more for Farmington area seniors

The City of Farmington Hills offers dozens of programs for area adults age 50 and better at the Center for Active Adults, located in the Costick Center on 11 Mile Road between Middlebelt and Inkster. The Center is open Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Advance registration is required for all programs. To register for events or for more information, call 248-473-1830.

Get Fit for the Holidays!

Fitness classes are available for drop-ins throughout the month of December. Yoga, Tai Chi, Gym Exercise, Pickle Ball, and more. Call 248-473- 1830 for more information.

Book Discussion: Dec. 1, 1 p.m.

Join a lively, informal book discussion group in cooperation with the Farmington Community Library on the first Thursday of each month. Paperback copies of Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard are available for advance checkout at 50 cents for residents, $1 for non-residents.

First Friday Ballroom: Dec. 2, 3 p.m.-6 p.m.

Enjoy ballroom dancing featuring the Mike Wolverton Band with buffet dinner included. All levels of experience and adult ages, singles and couples welcome. Cost is $10 by Dec. 1, $12 after.

Shredding for Safety: Dec. 6, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Protect your identity, de-clutter your home, and recycle. Bring in up to four paper grocery bags of documents to be shredded free of charge in the Costick Center parking lot. Drive up only. No junk mail or trash. Residents of Farmington and Farmington Hills only please.

The Holiday Extravaganza: Dec. 9, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Return to the days when holiday parties were glamorous. Dress to the nines and enjoy a scrumptious meal, entertainment, prizes, and dancing to live music by the Mike Wolverton Band. Tickets are $8 by Dec. 5, $10 after.

Friday’s Film: Dec. 16, 12 p.m.-3 p.m.

Enjoy lunch, beverage, popcorn, and candy, and watch “Me Before You.” Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door.
