State grant supports Farmington Hills Youth Theatre musical

The Farmington Hills Youth Theatre’s production of “The Music Man,” which opens December 1, will be funded in part by a $9,000 grant from the State of Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA).

The grant, awarded to the Farmington Hills Department of Special Services Cultural Arts Division, will be matched by sales from Youth Theatre performances and the program’s significant volunteer support. Many thanks go out to volunteer crew members and parents of actors.

Created in 2003, the program supports beginner and seasoned actors in developing life-long skills that build self-esteem, confidence, and the ability to work with others. Funds received will also support the Farmington Hills Youth Theatre’s spring production, on stage May 4-7, 2017.

The fall production of “The Music Man” features 120 talented young actors from Farmington Hills and surrounding communities. Performances will be held December 1 and 2 at 7 p.m., and December 3 and 4 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door; children three and under are free.

Tickets may be purchased at recreg.fhgov.com, at the Costick Center at 28600 W. 11 Mile Rd., or charged by calling 248-473- 1848. To learn more, call 248-473-1859 or visit fhgov.com/youththeatre.
