Tucked away into a corner of downtown Farmington, a small boutique has since 2006 offered shoppers a place to “explore, discover, and enjoy”.
Founded by three sisters – Andrea Yeo, Patty Williams, and Bella Lawson – Tre Sorelle offers hand-selected apparel, accessories, and gifts from around the world. Therese Norris, who has managed the store for the past three years, said the sisters were born in Argentina, and because their father was an ambassador, they “grew up living internationally.”
“This was their dream,” she said, adding that even as children, the sisters thought it would be fun to open a store.
They landed in Farmington after Patty’s husband, Dr. Joe Williams, got a residency at what was then Botsford Hospital. The store is located in the same building as his office. While the sisters planned for Andrea to run the store, she sadly passed away shortly after Tre Sorelle opened, Norris said.
Through her company, Global Health Services Network, and nonprofit Global Health Charities, Williams travels extensively and finds many of the items on Tre Sorelle’s shelves. In addition to apparel, accessories, and gifts, the store features the works of local artists, including the sisters’ mother, Didi DiMartini, a Farmington resident. Every item comes with a story, and Norris believes that has contributed to the store’s longevity.
“I think people like the atmosphere of the shop,” Norris said. “They like the stories behind the things… People are intrigued that (Williams) actually talked to the person who made the item.”
Saturday’s 10th anniversary celebration will include discounts, raffles, cake and champagne. “For those who have been with us, who have a story with us, they’ll get a special surprise,” Norris said.
The celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Learn more about the store on Facebook. Tre Sorelle is located at 23366 Farmington Rd. in downtown Farmington.
