Legion, Optimists honor Farmington Hills firefighter

A veteran Farmington Hills firefighter recently received two Fire Fighter of the Year honors.

Lieutenant Jamie Neufeld was honored in September by American Legion Post #346, and on October 12, by the Farmington/Farmington Hills Optimist Club.

Neufeld was hired in 1992 as a paid on-call fire fighter, then as a career fire fighter in 1997. During his career, he has had assignments as a Career Inspector, Hazardous Materials Coordinator, and Staff Lieutenant. He currently serves in the Administrative Section, where one of his many responsibilities is handling the duties of Emergency Manager for the City of Farmington Hills.

In addition to a bachelor’s degree from Madonna University, Neufeld holds certifications from the Michigan State Police and Michigan Department of Homeland Security. He has received numerous citations, awards, and letters of appreciation from citizens and local businesses. He volunteers with Team Farmington Hills/American Cancer Society, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and also the Farmington Area Goodfellows.
