Farmington city officials may take another look tonight at an ordinance amendment that affects mobile food vendors.
The 6 p.m. special meeting agenda includes introduction of the proposed ordinance amendment, which council members also discussed in July. Changes would limit food vendors to three events per year, and establish specific requirements for food truck size, placement, lighting, waste disposal, insurance, and more.
Council member Greg Cowley in July suggested that the permit fee be set at $100, comparable to a day’s worth of property taxes for a brick-and-mortar business. The new proposal doesn’t set a specific amount, but notes that council members may set a fee “from time to time”. Also, the new rules give the city manager authority to review and approve permits for stand-alone mobile food truck events.
The special meeting is open to the public, as is the council’s 7 p.m. meeting. Agendas for both, with supporting documents, are available at farmgov.com.
