Library launches 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

The Farmington Community Library will launch a new early literacy program October 15 that will get parents and children into the habit of reading, even before kindergarten.

The easy-to-follow “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” program encourages families to read together, with reading logs to help parents track the 1,000 books with their child. The library will offer the incentives of free books and a beautiful tote bag.

Registration for the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program will be ongoing and starts with the October 15 kick-off. The Main Library hosts a special edition of Tales, Tunes, and Tots at 10:30 a.m. At 3 p.m., the Farmington branch Library hosts family fun activities with the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum.

To learn more, call the Children’s Departments at the Main Library, 248-848-4315 or the Branch Library, 248-473-3118.
