Advance tickets are on sale for the Farmington/Farmington Hills Education Foundation’s 4th annual “A Toast to Education”, held November 4 at Farmington Hills Manor.
From 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the wine and beer tasting fundraiser will also feature live entertainment, food from local restaurants and caterers, a “Wheel of Wine” chance purchase station, and “strolling raffle”. Proceeds are used to fund innovation grants in technology, scholastic achievement, extracurricular enrichment and the arts.
The Farmington/Farmington Hills Education Foundation, since 2012, has awarded over $223,000 for 212 innovation grants to teachers, community organizations and Farmington Public Schools. Grants have funded technology-based programs and activities in academic, music, special education and physical education classrooms; field trips to the Festival of the Arts and to a “Health Exploration” event; and middle school and high school robotics and TechGirls, a program which encourage girls to investigate careers in science, math and engineering.
The Foundation also awarded grants to support high school athletics, music clinics, digital photography, diversity student leadership workshops, Galileo teacher leadership training, music sensory in early childhood special education, Destination Imagination and “Hands on Your Food” cooking and gardening classes.
Tickets are $40 each in advance ($50 at the door) and may be purchased at ffhedfoundation.org/toast_to_education.php or at any local Busch’s Fresh Food Market beginning October 7. Tickets are limited. Sponsorship, food station host and prize donation opportunities are also available.
