State Representative Christine Greig (D-Farmington Hills) will host a community discussion October 2 about the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) ballot proposal on the November 8 ballot.
Guests will include Rep. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield) and Rep. Robert Wittenberg (D-Oak Park); Megan Owens, executive director of Transportation Riders United; and Farmington Hills resident Alexis Blizman, who is county coordinator for Citizens for Connecting our Communities.
Voters in the City of Detroit, and Oakland, Macomb, Wayne and Washtenaw counties, will decide whether to fund a $4.7 billion regional transit master plan with a 1.2 mill property tax levy. The plan includes expanded bus service, bus rapid transit, regional rail, commuter rail, and airport express service.
“It is important that residents have an opportunity to learn about the RTA and ask questions about this proposal,” said Greig.
The town hall meeting will be held from 3 p.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Auditorium at the Farmington Community Library, 32737 W. 12 Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills. Refreshments will be served.
