The Michigan Center for Assisted Living (MCAL) recently honored Botsford Commons Facilities Manager John Weak, an employee for more than 16 years, with the Alice B. Wallace Care Giver Award.

Given annually, the award recognizes the most outstanding caregiver from an MCAL facility, throughout the state of Michigan. Weak and his work ethic exceeded all measures for qualification, which included: demonstrating leadership skills, providing quality care to residents, and acting as a mentor to employees.

Weak is well known by residents, family and staff at Botsford Commons for his positivity and “get it done” attitude.

“He leads by example and employees from multiple departments, across the campus, watch his interactions with residents and their families and follow his positive and friendly approach,” Diane Zide, Director of Operations for Botsford Commons said. “He is an ‘actions speak louder than words’ team member, and we cannot thank him enough.”

Weak, along with his family, residents and staff celebrated his award during a luncheon for MCAL and HCAM, Health Care Association of Michigan members at the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit.
