Farmington Rotary expands, offers morning meetings

Farmington Rotary sponsors an annual essay contest.

Farmington Rotary will offer “sunrise” meeting series, starting September 15, for those who want to join a civic group, but need an early morning meeting option.

The group will continue meeting Tuesdays, 11:45 a.m., at Orchard United Methodist Church in Farmington Hills. The 7 a.m. meeting will be held at Scrambler Marie’s, 27909 Orchard Lake Rd., Farmington Hills (northwest corner of 12 Mile and Orchard Lake Roads).

Early morning visitors will learn about the opportunities that Rotary provides for youth, including specific scholarship opportunities. The local club also participates in these activities:

  • Literacy for youth and adults
  • Spaghetti dinners to assist local children’s activities
  • Awarding scholarships
  • Essay contests with monetary rewards for local students
  • Fundraisers to raise awareness of the battle to eradicate Polio
  • Book collections to assist in literacy projects
  • Road cleanup
