Patriot Day ceremony honors 9/11 victims, first responders

The American Legion Groves-Walker Post #346 of Farmington, along with the Cities of Farmington Hills and Farmington, will host the 15th annual Patriot Day Ceremony, held September 11, 6 p.m., at the Walter Sundquist Pavilion at Riley Park in downtown Farmington.

The annual ceremony remembers the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, and honors the first responders who risked and gave their lives. Local officials will also pay tribute to fallen soldiers and recognize personnel from the Farmington Public Safety Department and the Farmington Hills Police and Fire Departments.

City officials attending will include State Representative Christine Greig, Oakland County Commissioner William Dwyer, Farmington and Farmington Hills Mayors and City Councils, Farmington Hills Police Chief Charles Nebus, Farmington Hills Fire Chief Jon Unruh, and Farmington Public Safety Director Frank Demers.
