Due to the reconfiguration of the school levels for the 2016-2017 school year, the City of Farmington Hills After School Youth Centers will return to serving students in the middle school, and Y Child Care will provide before and after care for elementary school students.
Five Youth Center locations across the District will provide students in 6th-8th grades with activities and tutoring programs. Students in grades K-5 will have access to before and after school child care at all elementary schools.
After School Youth Center locations for the 2016-2017 school year are:
- Costick Center (Monday-Thursday)
- Farmington Hills Ice Arena (Monday-Friday)
- Jon Grant Community Center (Monday-Friday)
- Warner Middle School (Tuesday and Thursday)
- former Dunckel School site (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)
Each location provides transportation to the after school program, and allows students to stay until 5:30 p.m. There is a $50 per member to join the After School Youth Center. Activities will vary by location, but include swimming, ice skating, homework help, outdoor activities, ping pong, and much more.
The Y’s licensed Before and Afterschool Care Programs provide students with weekly theme-based activities that support experiential learning. Children in the Y Program develop valuable life skills through activities like homework assistance, arts and crafts, literacy, board games, group games, and outdoor play. They also learn to make healthy choices that include eating nutritious snacks, taking time for active play, and participating in healthy activities.
The Y Child Care program begins at 7:15 a.m. and is open until 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. To learn more, call 248-553-4020.
