Labor Day delays Farmington area trash collection

All garbage, recycling, and yard waste pickups in Farmington and Farmington Hills will be delayed next week, due to the Labor Day holiday.

Collection will be delayed one day throughout the week, with Friday’s collection made on Saturday. To ensure pickup, please have trash at the curbside by 7 a.m.

Recycling carts should be placed at least three feet apart from other garbage cans, mailboxes, parked cars, and trees, to accommodate the automated lifter. Follow the directional arrows with the hinge toward your house.

There are only six days when trash is not collected: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

If you have questions about trash collection in Farmington Hills, call the Department of Public Works at 248-871-2850 or visit fhgov.com. In Farmington, call the Department of Public Services, 248-473-7250, or visit farmgov.com.
