Community Sings and more at local libraries

Both branches of the Farmington Community Library will be closed Sept. 3 through Sept. 5 for the Labor Day holiday.

Hooked on Books: Aug. 29, 7 p.m., Main Library

Join your fellow book lovers for a monthly discussion of new and classic books. Tonight’s book is In One Person, by John Irving. Copies available at the Main Library.

Community Sings: Aug. 30, 7 p.m., Main Library

Matt Watroba will expertly guide everyone to sing their favorite songs and maybe learn some new ones, whether you are a casual singer, a shower singer or even been asked to mouth the words. The format is “in the round” style to encourage all levels and all ages to sing. No experience necessary!

Farmington Community Stargazers: Aug. 30, 7 p.m., Main Library

The focus of the group is astronomy outreach as a means of promoting scientific literacy in the community. This summer we’re discussing our nascent club’s structure, planning our second Tuesday Star Parties and sharing current astronomical events.

Open Lab: Sept. 1, 6 p.m., Main Library

Join us in the Main Library Computer Lab to receive assistance from one of our tech gurus. Whether it is help with your personal device, or with your favorite social media network, our experienced techs will be there to help you.

Learn to Meditate: Heartfulness, Relaxation & Meditation: Sept. 1, 7 p.m., Main Library

This 6-week course teaches simple relaxation and meditation exercises to help restore balance in life, manage stress, better your health and lead to calm and inner peace. Register for one or more. No previous experience necessary.
