The Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market welcomes the tenth annual Corn Roast August 13, hosted by the Farmington Elks Club.
Kevin Goshorn leads a crew of Elks who will shuck, cook, and serve up the “buck-an-ear” corn from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
“This is just a great event that we really look forward to,” he said. “I can’t believe we are growing on 10 years of ears. The best part is being part of the market festivities, serving the community and adding to our local scholarship fund. We are grateful to all the farmers who donate the sweetest corn, picked fresh for this event.”
Contributing Michigan farmers this year include the Fusilier family from Sharon Township, the Ruehs family from Petersburg, The Gass family from Ray and the Goetz family from Riga. Henry Ruehs is a new farmer at the market but is excited to be included in this year’s roast.
“We’ve heard so many good things about the Farmington community,” he said. “This is a great chance to participate and lend a hand to a local organization. Being part of the tenth annual makes it even more special.”
Open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Farmington Farmers Market is located in downtown Farmington at the corner of Grand River and Grove Street. Learn more about the market at farmingtonfarmersmarket.com.
