Former Farmington Hills cop pleads guilty to child porn charges

A 48-year-old former Farmington Hills police officer will be sentenced on child pornography charges next month, after pleading guilty this week in Oakland County Circuit Court.

Matthew Parsons entered a plea on three felony counts: recording an unclothed person, possession of child sexually abusive material, and using a computer to commit a crime. He was originally charged with eight sex offense and five computer-related charges.

Parsons, who had been with the department for more than 20 years, was placed on administrative leave, and then suspended without pay, after investigators from the Michigan Department of Attorney General, Criminal Division, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force served search warrants May 25 at the Farmington Hills Police Station on 11 Mile Road. He has remained in custody at the Oakland County Jail and resigned from the department earlier this month.

The Detroit News reports that Parsons’ sentencing is scheduled August 17.
