Last updated in 2009, the Downtown Master Plan 2016 will serve as guide for the next phase of public and private investment in the downtown district. The City of Farmington and the Farmington Downtown Development Authority (DDA) retained OHM Advisors in February to complete the project under the supervision of a 15-member committee, with additional staff support.
“Many of the ideas or projects in the previous master plan have come to fruition. Ordinances were updated. Streetscapes were installed. Studies were completed. Now, it’s time to coalesce those resources in a plan that will grow the downtown economy and tax base,” said Mayor William Galvin, who serves as a Farmington DDA board member.
An on-line survey will remain open through August 10 here: surveymonkey.com/r/FarmDMP2016or. It consists of 15 questions about community preferences, habits, housing and demographics.
The DDA will also host a Community Gathering/Open House from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on August 9, at Mike Greer Photography, on the second floor at 33316 Grand River Ave. Participants will preview some of the design concepts and can share reactions with a member of the Steering Team. Light snacks and beverages will be provided. All ages are welcome.
“The public input stage is important. The communication helps to instill greater understanding and a sense of ownership. We are happy to welcome all fans, and critics, of Downtown Farmington,” said Annette Knowles, DDA Executive Director.
To RSVP for the community gathering, call 248-473- 7276 or write to firstname.lastname@example.org by August 8.
