The City of Farmington Hills has lifted a ban on open burning enacted earlier this month.
Officials in Farmington and Farmington Hills, along with many other area communities, enacted the restrictions due to extremely dry weather conditions. Farmington Hills Fire Chief Jon Unruh said recent rainfall has led the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to reclassify the potential fire danger level from “Extreme Fire Danger” to “Low” for southeast Michigan. Farmington lifted its ban last week.
Unruh also reminded residents of the city code regarding consumer fireworks, which may only be used on the day of, and days before and after, national holidays. To learn more, visit fhgov.com.
