Farmington Second Fridays (F2F) returns July 8, with extended hours at participating downtown Farmington merchants.
Businesses will stay open until 9 p.m. and offer specials, promotions and activities. Patrons will find posters in the windows of participating merchants and spray chalk stencils at the storefronts, as well as a listing of participants at downtownfarmington.org.
In its second year, the promoting includes special themes: Beach Party on August 12, the return of the successful Apple Dessert Challenge on September 9, and Tailgate on October 14. Retailers are already gearing up for theme nights; Chive Kitchen plans a Caribbean-themed night with special menu and drinks, and possibly live music. Neu Kombucha will be featuring special Tropical Kombucha smoothies.
This month, Farmington Second Fridays falls on the same night that Brother Crowe performs at Rhythmz in Riley Park, a free outdoor concert series held on Fridays from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
“We are excited to resume the Farmington Second Fridays series, a unique opportunity for members of our community and beyond to support local businesses and restaurants while enjoying extended hours, promotions, and great live music,” said DDA Board Member and Project Chair Sean Murphy said in a press release. “It’s a fun way to showcase Downtown Farmington’s emerging presence as a social, retail and dining destination.”
Annette Knowles, Assistant to the City Manager and DDA Executive Director, added, “People want to make the most of their evenings and weekends. Enjoying shopping, free music, entertainment and dining close to home and with neighbors, friends and family is an ideal combination.”
In addition to Murphy, Farmington Second Fridays Committee Members include volunteers April Lark, Andrea Zimmer and Sue Nebe, owner of downtown arts and crafts business, Baker’s Studio.
