The City of Farmington Hills will unveil new water bottle filling stations in Heritage Park June 27, with a 12 p.m. ceremony that honors Panasonic Automotive for a $3,000 donation that kickstarted the project.
According to a city press release, two refillable water stations “test marketed” at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena. In less than a year, each filled more than 35,000 reusable water bottles.
Heritage Park patrons are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles or purchase refillable water bottles at the concessions areas at the Ice Arena, Costick Center, Founders Sports Park or the Splash Pad, with proceeds going to the city’s environmental sustainability efforts. Water stations are also available at the Costick Center, Ice Arena, and will soon be added to Founders Sports Park.
The June 27 event will also include an update about the city’s progress in the Georgetown University Energy Prize Competition, and information will be available about ongoing “green” efforts, including STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) programs and the new Education Trail at Heritage Park.
