Student writers win Optimist essay contest

Six students were recently honored as winners of the Farmington/Farmington Hills Breakfast Optimist Club’s annual essay contest for students in grades 7-12.

This year’s topic for the 700-800 word essays was “Lead by Example: Reality or Fiction.” The club received 22 high school and nine middle school entries, judged by Roger Weber, Maureen Clinesmith, and Joyce Hagen. Winners are:

7th & 8th Grade Division

1st – Roshen Patel, East Middle School

2nd – Kavina Sheth, Dunckel Middle School

3rd – Shiv Seshan, Dunckel Middle School

9th-12th Grade Division

1st – Anjali Chiravuri, North Farmington High School

2nd – Shikha Raman, Farmington HS

3rd – Easheta Shah, Farmington HS
