Farmington Hills clothing store seeks ‘Dapper Dads’

The Shirt Box in Farmington Hills, along the with the Detroit Jewish News, today announced that it is on the lookout for metro Detroit’s most Dapper Dad.

Mothers, sons, daughters and friends can nominate a dad by visiting The Shirt Box’s Facebook page, clicking on the Nominate Dad tab, completing a short nomination form, and uploading a “before” photo of Dad at

Nominations will be accepted through May 9 and must include a brief explanation of why Dad deserves to be nominated. Dads will also need to be available for a photo shoot during the week of May 15. Contact information for both the nominator and nominee should be provided.

Two “Dapper Dads” selected in mid-May will receive a clothing makeover, including fashion guidance from The Shirt Box team of style consultants and a new outfit each. Dapper Dads will have the opportunity to be featured in a “before” and “after” feature in an upcoming issue of the Detroit Jewish News.

“We wanted to show Dads how much they are appreciated,” said Ron Elkus, co-owner of The Shirt Box. “Often, they are busy placing their families first, they don’t spend time on themselves. We thought this would be a special way to show Dads how much they are appreciated and recognize some of the outstanding fathers we have in our community.”
