Students win Optimist Oratorical Contest honors

Six Farmington area students won awards in the 2016 local Optimist Oratorical Contest, and one has moved on to the state level.

The Farmington/Farmington Hills Breakfast Optimist Club held its annual competition in March, with seven boys and six girls participating. Students competed by reciting 4-to-5-minute speeches that they prepared on the subject “How My Best Brings Out the Best in Others.” The speech contest is designed to inspire today’s youth to motivate and inform others through the art of public speaking.

The Boys’ Contest was held on March 16 with seven contestants competing. The Girls’ Contest was held on March 23 with six contestants competing.
