Semi driver ticketed in Farmington crash

A semi-trailer truck driver was ticketed following a Tuesday morning accident at Grand River and Farmington Road that injured a West Bloomfield woman.

Semi car crash
The Grand River and Farmington Road intersection was closed for more than an hour Tuesday morning, after a semi making a left turn collided with a passenger vehicle, which ended up under the truck.

Farmington Public Safety Commander Todd Anderson said the Illinois-based truck driver was traveling north on Farmington Road, and the passenger car was headed south. The light was green for both when the truck driver turned; the driver told police he did not see the other vehicle.

“It was a head-on collision,” Anderson said. “The car ended up under the semi truck.”

The woman, who is in her 70s, was transported to Beaumont Farmington Hills Hospital, where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The truck driver was uninjured.
