A physical therapist will talk about arthritis and exercise during Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills’ next Walk with a Doc program, held from noon to 1 p.m. on May 19, in Heritage Park.
This free, community event emphasizes exercise and provides health tips. If you have arthritis, you’ll learn what kinds of exercise might work for you and which ones should you avoid. Physical therapist Jody Tomasic will discuss low-impact activities that will get your heart pumping and muscles working through strength training.
“Some activities may be too much for your joints if you have arthritis,” said Tomasic. “However, with your doctor’s OK, those with arthritis should try to get at least 20 to 30 minutes of low-impact conditioning exercise on as many days as you feel you can.”
The event will be held rain or shine. For more information, call Caroline Schairer, Walk with a Doc coordinator, Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills at 248-442-1661.
