Kulhavi makes Barron’s Top 1,200

John KulhaviFarmington Hills Merrill Lynch financial advisor John Kulhavi was recently recognized by Barron’s magazine as one of “America’s Top 1,200 Advisors: State-by-State.” This is the eighteenth year in a row Kulhavi has made the Barron’s lists of the top 1,000 or 1,200 advisors.

John Kulhavi has been a Merrill Lynch Financial Advisor for more than 40 years. An alumnus of Central Michigan University and former Chairman of its Board of Trustees, John is the Chair of the Development Board and on the Central Michigan University National Committee for Capital Campaign.

John was the former Chairman of the Vietnam War Memorial Council, and today serves as the Chair of White Lake’s Civil Service Board, on the US Endowment for Forestry & Communities Board and on the Board of Graceland Fruit. John was a highly decorated helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War. He resides in White Lake.

Attorney joins Fabian, Sklar & King, P.C.

HamawiFarmington Hills-based Fabian, Sklar & King, P.C., a law firm focused on representing homeowners and business owners in fire injury, explosion, and property-damage cases, announced that Rabih Hamawi has joined its team of nationally recognized attorneys. Michael Fabian, founding shareholder of the firm, made the announcement.

Hamawi earned his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, graduating magna cum laude. He served on the Cooley Law Review Board of Editors as a Symposium Editor, where he received the Law Review Board Award for the most significant contributions to the Law Review during his tenure. He also served on the Moot Court and Mock Trial Executive Boards, and was a member of Cooley’s National Trial Team and the first year Moot Court Team. Upon graduation, he received the Student Leadership Achievement Award for his outstanding participation in a leadership role during law school.

Hamawi holds licenses in Property, Casualty, Life, Accident, and Health insurance. He is a Licensed multiple lines Property and Casualty, Life, Accident, and Health Insurance Counselor (LIC). He earned the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU®), Certified Insurance Consultant (CIC), and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designations. He previously served as managing principal for the Universe Financial Group, an insurance and financial services agency, where he managed two offices and built a multi-million-dollar book of business.

While in law school, he interned for the Honorable John Corbett O’Meara, Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He also interned for the United States Department of Justice in the United States Attorney’s Office in Detroit. Hamawi served as a student attorney for the Cooley Law School Immigrant Rights and Civil Advocacy Clinic. He is bilingual and fluent in Arabic as well.

Prior to attending law school, Hamawi earned a master’s degree in finance (MSF) with a concentration in financial planning from Walsh College in Troy, Mich., and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B, with high honors) from the Lebanese University, Faculty of Law and Political Science. Rabih is an adjunct professor teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Personal and Corporate Finance, Risk Management, and Insurance and Financial Planning at the University of Phoenix, Davenport University, and Southern New Hampshire University.
