Farmington Public Safety Department (FPS) Fire Marshal Scott Brown recently completed the National Child Passenger Safety Certification Training Program, a 36-hour course that certifies students as child passenger safety technicians.
Technicians put their knowledge to work by conducting child safety seat checks, where parents and caregivers receive hands-on assistance for proper use of child restraint systems and safety belts.
“A properly installed car seat gives a child the best chance to escape injury when involved in a car accident,” FPS Deputy Director Ted Warthman said. “We can’t predict when these accidents are going to occur so it’s important that we have them properly secured each and every time we drive on the road.”
