Simple Recycling Inc. conducts the new program, in partnership with the City of Farmington and the Resource Recovery and Recycling Authority of Southwest Oakland County (RRRASOC). Single family households were recently sent a postcard along with two green bags, which they may fill with unwanted clothing, textiles and other household items. The bags should be set out for collection on the same day as weekly trash and recycling collection.

Simple Recycling Inc. will collect the full green bags and leave replacement bags behind. Additional bags are located at City Hall, 23600 Liberty St., and the Department of Public Works building, 33720 W. Nine Mile Rd.

“The goal is to make it easy for residents to recycle as many items as they can,” aid Michael Csapo, RRRASOC General Manager. “The Simple Recycling program is an opportunity to keep a highly recyclable material out of the landfill. It’s a free, simple and convenient way to reduce waste and recycle more.”

Other RRRASOC communities already utilizing the program include the Cities of South Lyon, Walled Lake and Wixom. The Village of Milford begins the program March 29th

While residents are strongly encouraged to continue donating unwanted clothing to their favorite charity or thrift shop, the Simple Recycling program helps o capture the 85 percent of recyclable textiles still going to landfills.
