Jacob Rubenstein and Jared Char, both seniors at Harrison High School, came up with the idea last July to collect equipment for Detroit PAL, a nonprofit through which the Detroit Police Department and community residents partner to create safe opportunities for kids to play. According to the Detroit PAL website, Char had some friends who played football with the organization.

“We imagine the youth that enjoy the baseball program have similarly great experiences,” Rubenstein said.

The equipment drive continues through March at The Bullpen, 40040 Grand River, Unit 450, Novi. To learn more, contact Jared, j_char14@aol.com or Rubenstein, rubenstein.jacob1@gmail.com.
