Learn about colon cancer risks during Walk with a Doc

The Beaumont Hospital – Farmington Hills “Walk with a Doc” program returns March 17, with a theme appropriate for National Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

Walk With a DocFrom noon to 1 p.m., Mariquit Sendelbach, D.O., a gastroenterologist, will speak about the risks of this deadly, yet preventable and treatable, disease.

“Screening is the best way you can reduce your risk for colon cancer,” Sendelbach said. “Also, you can take charge of your health by knowing your family health history, eating a balanced diet, exercising, limiting alcohol use and not smoking.”

This free, community program will be held at the Heritage Park Nature Center in Farmington Hills, on the west side of Farmington Road between 10 and 11 Mile Roads. The event will be held rain or shine. Healthy snacks will be provided. Register by calling 1-877-477-3621, option #1.
